Unique way of capturing spirit of Hyderabad through lens of photographers

The top three winners will be given away cash prizes on June 25th during closing ceremony of HAF, where Pankaj Udhas will be performing the closing acts of the festival.


Hyderabad, May 21, 2016....Hyderabad Arts Festival(HAF) is organising a week long Photo Expo showcasing 46 shortlisted photographs of the total 400 plus entries received for the Photo Competition organised as part of the ongoing 3 month long Hyderabad Arts Festival. Hyderabad Arts Festival is organised to celebrate the spirit of Hyderabad.

Jayesh Ranjan, IT Secretary Govt of Telangana; Ramesh Prasad, Chairman of Prasad Group and Nikita Bisht, Femina Miss India(North) and Actress in Tollywood and Punjab inaugurated the Photo Expo this afternoon at I-Max.

The guests appreciated the efforts of the HAF.

Visitors can check the shortlisted photographs on display. And this will be open to public at first floor at Prasad I Max for the next seven days. There were the photographs clicked by professionals, amateurs, kids, housewives and common citizens of the city.

This Photo Expo is the culmination of the Photo Competition held by HAF to give an opportunity to the people of Hyderabad to be a part of the festival. More than 400 entries were received for the Photo Competition, from which 46 entries were selected for the Photo Expo.

The judging for selecting these 46 final entries was done by 2 reputed photographers of Hyderabad, Lenny Emmanuel and Arvind Chenji. From these shortlisted photographs top three will be selected and given away cash prizes.

The HAF Photo Competition was held in association with Neosun Photography, who helped in conducting the competition. HAF has tied up with likeminded individuals and organisations to take this festival further and to include more activities in its calendar. This Photo Competition was one such initiative and Shiva Chiluveru from Neosun Photography assisted in the Photo Competition.

Though HAF is being held for the past years, this is the first that the competition is organised. The organisers have received overwhelming response. What is so interesting about is it has attracted participation not just from the professionals but also from amateurs who are comprised of IT Professionals, Corporate Executives, Students and Home Makers.

The theme of the competition was “My Hyderabad”. Photos depicting any aspect of Hyderabad – culture, lifestyle, people, or just about anything that was unique to Hyderabad was captured by the participants. This is the unique way of capture the spirit of Hyderabad through your lens said one of the judges.

The participation was open to lovers of photography irrespective of age, professional backgrounds. Each participant was allowed to submit upto ten photographs. The competition was open from 9th April and closed on 30th April. Photographs submitted were subjected to a pre-selection round after which a two member panel of judges—Lenny Emmanuel and Arvind Chenji brought down entries to 46. These shortlisted photographs are being showcased on First Floor at Prasad Imax till next Saturday.

Another set of panel of judges will select final images. Three winners will be adjudged as the winners and will be given away cash prizes. These 3 winners will be announced at the closing ceremony of the HAF on 25th June 2016 where Pankaj Udhas as closing act will perform live.

The 3 winners will be given the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Prizes, apart from some consolation prizes.
