Success has been eluding talented actor Gopichand for a few years and after back to back disappointments, the actor has pinned hopes on 'Chanakya'. The film, directed by Thiru, has hit the screens today. Also starring Mehreen Pirzada, Sunil, Rajesh Khattar, Jayaprakash, Nassar Aadarsh Balakrishna among others, the  film has been produced under AK Entertainments banner. Read on to know how the film is.

Story

Watch the film to know

Performances

Gopichand has given his best and he looks good in the movie. Mehreen has nothing much to do but she looks beautiful. Zareen Khan, who makes her debut in Telugu with this movie, is just okay. Upen Patel as a stylish villain is good. Rajesh Khattar is there to just look like Dawood Ibrahim. Nassar, Jayaprakash and others fit the bill. Sunil evokes laughs in a couple of scenes.

Technical aspects

The camera and art work are decent. Surprisingly, Abburi Ravi's dialogues and Sricharan Pakala's background don't make an impact in this movie. The songs are just average. For a spy thriller, audience expect an engaging narration but the screenplay is not so intriguing except for the pre-climax portions.

Analysis

The character of Rajesh Khattar, Ibrahim Qureshi, is largely inspired by the most wanted underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and the way his character is introduced and when he tells that he will send shivers down the spine of Indian government, audiences expect a thrilling ride and a battle of wits between him and the hero. They expect something out of the box as it's a spy thriller. But that doesn't happen. Though the director is successful to an extent in engaging the audiences in the second half, especially in the pre-climax episodes, the first half and some routine episodes disappoint the audiences.  Gopichand has given a sincere performance though. On the whole, the film is a one time watch.
